James Maes Endorses Measure RTM to Protect Transit and Build Connected Communities
SAN LEANDRO, CA
San Leandro Mayoral candidate James Maes has officially endorsed Measure RTM (the Connect Bay Area Transit Initiative) on the November 3 ballot.
“Measure RTM is about more than just keeping the trains running. It’s about the future of our region,” Maes said. “We can’t build connected communities or affordable housing along our transit corridors if we let our public transit systems collapse. This measure protects the vital connections working families rely on every day.”
Maes also emphasized the measure’s direct impact on local youth. With free and reduced-price transfers, students commuting from San Leandro to college in San Jose can rely on BART without breaking the bank. As a father with a child heading off to college this year, Maes understands the financial pressures families face and the need for affordable transit options.
“We need a transit network that empowers our youth, not one that prices them out,” Maes added. “I urge San Leandro to vote YES on Measure RTM.”
